Dio
Alfred and the other family heads were finishing, it seemed, as we came inside. It wasn’t too uncommon for the Baskers and Jetroses to leave early—I knew Glen was really mean and Durin was cranky all the time. Charlotte and Zion would support those accusations, because they were the ones who made them.
Onivera came in behind me, carrying the bag of oranges. He set them into the pantry before being taken aside by Alfred, sharing a few quiet words in the corner. I stepped aside and let Vertiline Featherstone, Duchess of her family, pass. She had long, light brown hair, amber eyes, and wore a simple red
Charlotte
I was seated next to Leo, and Glen was lounging on the other side. He was holding his Basker Talisman, a gift that all Baskers receive on their tenth birthday. It was meant to act as a barrier, of sorts, to ensure that our personal demons didn't betray their orders. Of course, they were just trinkets to everyone else.
Also on their tenth birthday, each Basker is given a list of demons from which they may choose one to call their own. The list seemed to populate itself, and is kept locked in an underground vault until it was needed. The demons on the list are there by choice, and many of them often only wish to be entertained
Zion
I, Zion Jetrose, eldest of three at the age of 14, was playing an estate-wide game of hide-and-seek with my friends. I, as the eldest of the group, was naturally the seeker first. I didn't mind; in fact, I enjoyed the position of power.
I figured that Leona, my younger sister, and Dio would be the easier ones to find. Aaron, my younger brother, and Charlotte, though, might be a bit harder. It was a possibility that Leona and Aaron were hiding together, which would be great. Dio knew the land, as it was his family's estate. Unfortunately, I hadn't even the slightest clue where Charlotte could be. No place was unreachable to her.
